Order Description

For this research paper, you only need to finish 3-page length of introduction part. My research question is “How does degree of education effect people’s satisfaction with their job in Canada?” Please read files I will upload for you.

STRUCTURAL GUIDE FOR RESEARCH PROJECT COMM2002 A/B – 25%

A section: Papers are due in the Resource Centre (4400RB) by 3pm on April 1st.
B section: Papers are due in the Resource Centre (4400RB) by 2pm on April 2nd.

Late papers will be penalized one mark out of twenty-five for each day late (weekends count as 1 day late).  The paper should be 10-12 pages in length, of which at least half is written text and the other half data.  Organize your paper using the section headings below.  Use all aspects of APA style (page setup, referencing, etc.).

I Introduction (5)
Introduce your topic of study (what is the social relevance of your topic).  Include background research from a minimum of three scholarly journal articles. Explicitly state the research question you intend to examine. Make sure you synthesize the articles you have chosen in relation to your research question.  How does the literature confirm, refute or add to what you are planning on studying.

Clearly state your research question at the end of the introduction.

II Data and Methods (10)

Explain what variables you have chosen to act as your indicators (independent or dependent) of your concepts?  Why do you think these are valid measures? State your research hypothesis as a clear conjectural statement of the relationship between your two indicators.

What are the characteristics of your variables (level of measurement)?  Did you manipulate them in any way (recode, missing values)?  If yes, explain what you did and why.

From the frequencies of the two variables describe the properties of the distributions of your independent and dependent variables (frequency %’s and the appropriate central tendency/dispersion measures).

From the appropriate bi-variate test of the two variables describe the nature of the relationship between your independent and dependent variables– strength, direction and significance.

Finally test your bi-variate relationship with one simple control variable (two categories only –recoding may be necessary).  What happens under the conditions of the control variable?

Present your results in a logical and systematic way – uni-variate tables, statistics and description then bi-variate tables, statistics and description, then the control table and description.   You need to provide all the output which is relevant to your analysis.  This means including in the body of the text key tables which are central to the argument.  Marks will be deducted for tables which are not readable (copy them as an image) . This section should be descriptive not analytical.  Do not relate the analysis to your hypothesis, just describe what the data is showing.

III Results: Analysis and Interpretation (5)

This is the section where you analyse the data. What are the data telling you in relation to your research hypothesis?  What patterns or relationships are evident? What preliminary conclusions can be drawn out of the data?
Note: Be specific and detailed in your analysis; this section should be treated as the most important part of your paper in relation to supporting/non supporting your H1, although it won’t be the biggest part of the paper. The goal is to show that you understand the procedures you have used and what the output is telling you about your hypothesis.

IV. Summary and Conclusions (5)

Based on your preliminary reasoning, try to account for what has been shown.  Draw some conclusions.  Relate your results back to the literature.  If your hypothesis has not been supported, attempt to explain why this has been the case and make some suggestions for revised hypotheses. What are the limitations of your research (reliability of measures, country, time issues)?
Based on your results, what is the importance of your findings?  What are the implications of your study to the greater field of knowledge in this area?

Unit 9 Earthquakes Laboratory

•Download this “Earthquakes lab” Earthquakes_lab.docx  or Earthquakes_lab.pdf  (You can choose either a Word document or an Adobe PDF for file format.)
•Answer the questions included there. A drawing compass will be useful if you opt to print it out. You’re also welcome to work entirely in the digital realm, and plot your answers on the map using the “Insert Shapes” option in Word.
•Save your lab to your computer with a file name such as YourName_Earthquakes_Lab_2014.doc, and submit it via the link above
