Your first and most fundamental task in writing an essay is to ensure that you understand what the topic is asking you to do. If an essay question asks you to ‘discuss’ it requires you to examine a statement through argument and then come to an informed conclusions about the statement. The essay is a formal piece of writing that addresses a particular subject and, most importantly, argues a point of view. Your main purpose in writing an essay is to convince the reader that your ideas and opinions are both valid and carefully considered. The process of arriving at the conclusion is, in many ways, more important than the conclusion itself. Any statements you make in your essay must be backed up by a rational argument and supported by peer reviewed and/or empirical evidence.
Write a 2500 word essay discussing the follow topic:
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi has argued for psychologists to incorporate a sociological focus to their work when investigating creativity. He has stated that “we need to abandon the Ptolemaic view of creativity, in which the person is at the centre of everything, for a more Copernican model in which the person is part of a system of mutual influences and information” (in Sternberg 1988, p. 336). Discuss.
Please note that your reference list must contain, at the bare minimum, at least eight (8) books and at least four (4) journal articles.
