The only thing we cheated on was we built the houses in a manner that they could be expanded. The government hadnt said we could or could not provide a flat, RCC roof, so we went ahead with what the villagers wanted. Siddharth Kaul, SOS SOS-Kinderdorf Asia Deputy Secretary General Siddharth Kaul supported Sharukh Mistrys recommendation to provide the villagers with flat, RCC roofs, appreciating that, as he said, Sharukh doesnt say what is good for you. He says lets work together and see whats good for you. Sometimes you can break your head with architects. They get so stuck up with what they think is right and then you have to break the relationship. A year later, some of the new houses in the tsunami villages had built an upper floor.
