1.Choose one of the most commonly used types of resumes and discuss why you think it would help you get a job. Include how you think the prospective employer might react to this type of resume and speculate about your chance to gain an interview. 2.Describe two effects of unemployment on the average person. Illustrate one method with which a person can cope with unemployment for each effect. ANSWER Employment situations Q.1The chronological resume is a type of resume that will first highlight my work history, beginning with my recent employment and other previous employments coming afterwards. In this resume, I will include my qualifications and key accomplishments, an education section that shows the schools I have attended and when I attended them, and the degree I earned there. This section will also give details of the awards and honors I received in school. I will also incorporate the skills I possess which vary from computer skills to my ability to speak a second language. I think this would be the most appropriate resume to give me a job because it will illustrate the kind of work I have done before as well as my various capabilities. My future employer will be able to easily scan through this resume and see the jobs I held, and my accomplishments as I worked there. I believe my strong work history will give me an upper hand over the other applicants, thus getting me a chance for a job interview. Q.2 Unemployment is a state of worklessness experienced by people who see themselves as or are seen by others as potential members of the workforce. (Nutman, 1981, P.2). Unemployment makes the average person feel useless if he is told that he is no longer needed at work. This results in depression and makes the person cut himself from everyone and everything around him. This problem can be solved if this person, while analyzing job openings on the internet lists down his weaknesses, which made him get fired, and resort to improve in these areas. Secondly, unemployment may lead to boredom because one has no job to go to in the morning. This if not checked can lead to depression. It is best to avoid boredom by maintaining contact with friends and family who can help in the job search. Reference Nutman, P. (1981) Understanding the Unemployed: The Psychological Effects of Unemployment. New York: Routledge.
