Why is there a lack of physical Education in schools

Why is there a lack of physical Education in schools

Here is my research question you can talk about physical education itself and then go more into depth about why there is lack of it and the effect it has on children.

PROJECT 2: Annotated Bibliography
Due by 11:59 PM, Saturday, nov. 7
For this assignment, you will use your research question to find and assess a total of 12 sources. However, only 6 need to be fully developed using the model below. For the remaining 6, you simply need to include a proper APA citation and a 1-2 sentence summary of the source.
At least 4 of your sources must come from a peer-reviewed journal, and at least one of your sources should come from a source other than print. This could be a TED talk, a video interview or something else. You should use APA citations, but this is only for the bibliographical section. You do not need to include citations within your paragraphs.
Project Format
Part 1: Preliminary Information (10 points)
-First include your name and class section, and citation style.
-Next clearly identify your research question.
Part 2: Annotated Bibliography of 6 sources. (54 points)
-Each of your six (or more) annotations should include three parts. Each annotation, not counting the citation, should be between 100 and 300 words.
1. Summary: What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say?
2. Assessment: Is the source credible? How? What are the author’s credentials? If it’s not an author, but an organization, how is the organization credible? Is the article or book written in a credible way, or are there reliability issues? Maybe the author doesn’t cite sources or speculates? Be honest about the credibility and value of the source.
3. Reflection: Once you’ve summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic?
Sample Annotation
1. B. Ehrenreich (2001). Nickel and dimed: On (not) getting by in America. New York: Henry Holt and Company.
-In this book of nonfiction based on the journalist’s experiential research, Ehrenreich attempts to ascertain whether it is currently possible for an individual to live on a minimum-wage in America. Taking jobs as a waitress, a maid in a cleaning service, and a Walmart sales employee, the author summarizes and reflects on her work, her relationships with fellow workers, and her financial struggles in each situation. She comes to the conclusion that for many people it’s nearly impossible to survive in many common jobs.
-An experienced journalist writing for publications like The Atlantic Monthly and The Washington Post, Ehrenreich is aware of the limitations of her experiment and the ethical implications of her experiential research tactics, and she honestly reflects on these issues in the text. The author is forthcoming about her methods and supplements her experiences with scholarly research.
-While Ehrenreich’s book does not really focus on the positives of living on small wages, I think I can use the material to support my argument that the minimum wage in California is enough for a person to live on as long as that person is willing to make certain sacrifices. Reading this source helped me see how difficult life is on the minimum wage, or less, but I still believe I can make my original argument.

Part 3 (18 pts)
For your remaining 6 sources, you simply need to include a proper APA citation and a brief summary. Here’s an example.
7. B. Ehrenreich (2001). Nickel and dimed: On (not) getting by in America. New York: Henry Holt and Company.
In this book, journalist Barbara Ehrenreich through examples and citing sources argues that it’s nearly impossible to survive in many common U.S. jobs.

Part 4 (18 pts): After you have completed your bibliography, you should have a better understanding of what specific problem you want to explore and how you want to argue that the problem is getting worse or persisting.
Rework your research question into a thesis statement that presents a clear argument with supporting points that you’ll be able to expand and exhaust in a final argumentative essay. In addition to the thesis itself, briefly explain (a few sentences at least) how your research influenced your final statement.
• REMEMBER – The point of this paper is to analyze a current problem in your field, and why that problem is persisting. Your thesis should address these elements. If your thesis doesn’t clearly explain why/how a specific problem in your field is persisting, you need to rewrite it.
Example:
Original research question: What are the links between social connections and depression in rural American teenagers?
Thesis statement – The separateness of rural life, combined with the increase in texting, is leading to higher rates of depression among high school-age children (13-18). The reasons for this development include less social support through non face-to-face interactions and a shortfall in the the coping mechanisms that develop through learning to interact with people in person.
Reasoning for thesis – When I began my research I wasn’t sure where I wanted to focus the problem, but after reading several journals that discussed behavioral changes through less face-to-face interactions, I thought this would be an interesting specific problem to research. Further research showed me that there is a gap in this connection, so I believe I can add something new to the conversation.
