New Work of Literature

New Work of Literature

Order Description

Instructions
Complete both sections A and B:
A. Innovative Work of Fiction: Create an original work of fiction that combines two genres or subgenres of
literature. Your new work of fiction should include the characteristics of two of the following multiple options in the final
product: fairy tale, ballad, tall tale, fable, modern fantasy, animal fantasy short story, or any other type of
literature discussed in your textbook. Use the textbook as a reference to be sure your story includes all of the
elements of the type of literature you are writing (i.e. a fairytale has a happy ending for the hero, fables teach
lessons, ballads are narrative poems, patterns of threes, etc.). Your work of fiction can be for any audience and
should be at least 1 page long, but may be longer. Have fun and be creative!
B. Analysis and Reflection:
Include a 1-2 page detailed analysis and reflection section that addresses the following:
1) List the genres and/or subgenres you selected and list the elements/characteristics from each that you
included in the new piece of literature you created. The goal is to include all of the characteristics of
both genres/subgenres in your new story/work.
2) Compare and contrast the multiple approaches or options you selected to use in the final product
3) Discuss how you integrated ideas and characteristics from the alternate, divergent, or contradictory genres into
the final product
4) Discuss how you transformed the characteristics of the genres and subgenres you selected into an entirely new
piece of literature through connection and synthesis?
5) Reflect on your experience writing a new piece of literature. How did it feel to write a new piece of literature?
What did you think about the end result? Could you possibly publish your work as a children’s book for your family
or other’s? Remember to self-evaluate your paper using the Signature Assignment Rubric provided
before submitting your assignment because the assignment grade is directly aligned to it.
