Your review should analyse the book’s argument, its place in the literature and its significance. Do not merely describe its contents; you should be analytical and critical throughout.
Choose either: any book listed on page 3 or page 4 of this Handbook, or any comparable academic tome you come across (but clear this with me before you start your work); however, do not choose any fiction or Parker and Rathbone’s African History. Your review should analyse the book’s argument, its place in the literature and its significance. Do not merely describe its contents; you should be analytical and critical throughout. This means that you may need to compare it with other work in the field or assess the problems and/or advantages of the format chosen. For the Book Review only you may write in the first person. You should aim to write minimum of 1000 words, but do not exceed 1100.
