General Essay Requirements All essays must be a minimum of three to four pages of text, excluding titles, images or works cited page.All essays should be double-spaced, at 12 pt font in a reasonably legible font style, such as Times New Roman or Cambria.All essays except for narrative must use at least two text sources. Narrative essay: Minimum of three pages following the format laid out in the syllabus.A narrative essay tells a story, usually presenting a series of events in chronological (time) order, moving from beginning to end.A narrative essay should include these story conventions: A plot, including setting and characters, a climax, and an ending.No matter what your narrative is about, it must make a point: it must clearly tell what you want your reader to learn or take away from the story.Description is used to make a narrative more lively and interesting. Description focuses on details that help your reader see what you see, feel what you feel, and experience what you experience. Remember to involve your reader (audience) in your narrative. Choose details carefully to support and enhance your narrative. Prompt: Write an essay in which you tell of an event that changed you. It may be a traumatic event or situation or not, but it must be TRANSFORMATIVE. Needless to say, it is usually a crisis that brings on a realization about life or work, etc. It should be clear that there was a turning point that shaped who you are as a person or artist.
